They told me that I had a vacuum leak ($550+tax),my car never had a vacuum leak. I have the diagnostics to prove it. They told me that I needed 4 rotors, I needed 2. They told me that they finished putting in the spark plugs and it was still misfiring, I really needed to let them do the $1,600.00 ignition coils. Then 3 minutes later someone else from the company called me and told me that they were almost finished putting in the spark plugs. The level of dishonesty was really disturbing. I called corporate to try to get a response, but they called during my "work" time and said they would call me back, which they didn't.(originally contacted corporate on 6-15, they called back on 6-22, it's currently 6-27) My tires are fine, but don't ever let them touch your engine. I hired someone else to fix my car, honest work and much more reasonably priced. It just makes me sick. They were exceptionally nice and accommodating....and dishonest. My car came back worse after the $400 spark plugs. Thankfully, someone was able to advise me to an honest mechanic. Car runs great now. They were going to tap me for about $800+ in unneeded repairs. Free tire rotation and balancing actually means free rotation. They don't check your tires to see if they need balanced they only balance your tires if you bring it back and say you got a problem. They don't ask if you have a problem but they do tell you they're going to rotate and balance them. I asked him if they rotate and balance my tires they said yes when I told him that I watch them not do it they said oh we only do that if you say there's a vibration. I will not be back. And in my opinion they were running behind they were in a hurry. And they absolutely ripped me off by not checking my tires to see if they need to be balanced. This happened at the Milford store Ben was the manager. I live in Virginia, but have always used Tire Discounters for my tires and service. So, when I got a flat tire on the highway in Virginia, I called the Milford office to ask what I should do. Kyle reassured me and directed me to a newly opened office in Christiansburg, where they took care of me. Not only did Kyle let me know competitive pricing offered, so I didn’t go to another branded tire supplier, but also looked up the new shop for me. It wasn’t one week later, that my mother got in trouble with a flat tire. Who did I go to? KYLE at Tire Discounters. He totally took care of her and made cost conscious decisions with seamless customer service. This is the place to develop a life-long relationship for car service! I bought 4 new tires from this place then had a nail puncture one of the tires 2 months later.I took it back to get patched and they told me it couldn't be fixed and needed a new one.I left the vehicle with them to get the new tire installed. What they did was patched the tire put it on the opposite side and charged me for a new tire.I caught them and the manager said it was a defect from the supplier and he would get me a new one. Amazing amount of turn over in this store but service has always been consistent. After the service she was told that she needed a brake job. Price $900+...but negotiable.
So, I called my mechanic, who has been servicing my Volvos for years. A mechanic I trust because he tells me what I need to do, what I don't need to do and what I can do myself.
Well, my mechanic looks at the brakes and tells me they are fine. Some wear, but about 60 percent of the life still available. Most import, I didn't need a brake job AND new calipers, like TireDiscounters said.
Even more important is the fact that when he looked at the brakes he also inspected the front end (something I would have thought that TireDiscounters would have done) and found that the control arm bushings were in very bad condition. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being totally shot, these were a 9.5. They were so bad that my mechanic wasn't sure how TireDiscounters could have even aligned the tires.
So I ask:
1-How could you align the tires with shot control arm bushings.
2-Why was my wife told she needed a brake job, when she didn't.
3-Why should I ever go back to tire discounters for tires (FYI, I have been buying tires exclusively from TireDiscounters for 25 years.)Tire DiscountersApril 12, 2017All valid questions that we will be taking very seriously.
